Sort method

BioGuide provides you with many ways of sorting the paths.
Click on the "Sort" main item and choose
  • The order (decreasing or increasing)
  • The operation used to rank the paths:
    • Weighted Sum.
If ai (resp. lj) is the value of the source-entity i (resp. the link j) for the chosen preference criterion (e.g. Reliability, Completeness...), then the value of preference for the whole path is computed as (a1 + ... + an + l1 + ... + lm)/(n+m) .
    • Best Source-entity.
The whole path has the value of the source-entity having the highest value in the path.
    • First Source-entity.
The whole path has the value of the first source-entity in the path.

Sort attributes

For each entity you can specify what preference attribute (e.g. Reliability) has to be taken into account when sorting the result paths. To understand how the value is used, cf. hereafter the path value computation.
This can be done by using the popup menu on a given entity as shown in the screen capture.
